The HAWK Federation of Perfected Black Manhood Development & Training Program
This program was developed by the senior staff at the Institute For the Advanced Study of Black Family Life & Culture in Oakland, California. Dr. Dana Dennard is an initiated licensed trainer and is project director of the Aakhet Center Chapter.
The HAWK Federation is a "Rites of Passage" initiation program for Black males ages 10 to 14 with a mission to overtly and intentionally develop competent, confident and conscientious Black males. The overall developmental strategy is to systematically expose these young males to thinking (literature, folk tales, fables, proverbs, etc.), feeling (introspection, values clarification, etc.), and doing (kinesthetic, rituals, drama, etc.) exercises designed to reinforce and inculcate the message and meaning of each manhood rite and responsibility.
The entire program includes a 4 year curriculum. Dr. Dennard is available to consult with and assist individuals or groups who would like to start a rites institution in their area.
